Marta Martini

The second voice that walks back in.

Marta Martini is the second voice that walks back in. Identical twin to Clara, she is the one who translates the old songs into English for the memorial concert that slowly becomes the film's score.

That act of translation is the hinge of the whole story. The moment two Italian-American students ask what these Yiddish and Hebrew songs would sound like in English, an inheritance quietly becomes a movement.

Like her sister Clara, she is Italian-American and a fixture at the Jewish Snack, where the twins sing, waitress, and turn an ordinary birthday into an event.
